Water and weed--Wednesday, July 1

Let's get together on Wednesday afternoon/evening for watering and weeding. We'll meet at the garden between 5:30 and 6 p.m. The plants are doing great, but the weeds are getting HUGE! Probably need water by then, too, if it doesn't rain before Wednesday (which it doesn't look like it will.) Make sure to call before 5:30 if you need a ride.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

UPDATE--If it doesn't rain tonight, or look like rain tomorrow (as of Friday, 4 p.m., it does) we will have to water sometime on Saturday morning around 10 a.m. Check back tomorrow morning, or watch the weather channel. Thanks.

Thanks to those gardeners that have been coming out to help! The garden is doing OK today, since we weeded and cultivated a little last Saturday. However, as those of you who were there know, it is too hot to work in the afternoon with this heat wave. We were out at 10 on Saturday, and that was even a little too warm. We will see how the rains treat us today and tomorrow, and possibly on Saturday, June 27, we could go EARLY, like at 8 or 8:30 to water and weed. Watch the blog for info, and we will make sure ithe garden doesn't get too heat stressed before then. Call if you need a ride on Saturday morning.

Muddy day--gardening rescheduled for Saturday, June 20

Wow! All this rain is great for our plants, but not to cultivate and weed. We did get a little tilling done the other day, but today it is too wet to work again. However, we have a huge thistle problem that we will need to control, hopefully this Saturday. We will meet at about 10 a.m. We will bring hot dogs and chips for a little snack when we're done. See you there, and call if you need a ride.

UPDATE--June 13, Saturday morning. The garden is again too muddy to work. Check back to this site on Tuesday to check for our next working day.

After surveying the condition of the garden, and with the threat of rain, we decided that it is too muddy to cultivate. A lot of stuff is up, and on Saturday, June 13, we will meet at the garden at about 10:00 a.m. The ground should still be workable, and we won't need to water, so just come to pick weeds, hoe and cultivate. See you there! Call if you need a ride.

Yay! Rain!

Just in time--and wonderfully appreciated! Our corn is up, but so are some new weeds. We will meet on Wednesday, June 10, to cultivate, rake and pull weeds, unless it is too muddy. If any of our tomatoes need replanting, we will do that, too. Call if you need a ride.

Finishing touches, Wednesday, June 3

To make sure our new seedlings don't fade away, we will meet on Wednesday, June 3, at 6 p.m. to water, plant a few extra plants to replace weak seedlings, and finish tightening up the fence. We will need 4 or 5 people to water quickly. See you there, and make sure to call if you need a ride!
